The Year of Wholehearted Community

In a cultural moment characterized by mistrusting, disconnected, defensive, divided, and self- fulfilling patterns of relating, we want Soma to be an alternative community of wholeness. Wholeheartedness is the capacity to enjoy trusting, connected, vulnerable, compassionate, self-giving relationships with God, others, and self. It flows from the wholeness of our loving union and communion with the triune God, and is incomplete apart from real embodied relationships where we can practice being known and loved. This year we want to learn as a community how to better integrate God’s transforming love in our relationships with each other.

Corporate Liturgies Project

During this season when so much of our embodied corporate life together has been scattered and shuttered, we want to invite our community to stay spiritually and emotionally unified through regular rhythms and commitments that enable us to grow, learn, and change together. We are calling these formative practices “Corporate Liturgies.”

This fall we will be teaching through the book of Philippians and exploring God’s vision for becoming a joyful, united, wholehearted community of faith. In conjunction with this series, we have created a weekly guide to help us slow down to be with Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to apply the truths of this letter to our lives. We will release the guide below every Thursday for the upcoming week, but if you'd like to download the entire thing, you can access it here.

To complement the corporate liturgy, we encourage you to read one or both of the following books as well.

The Relational Soul: Moving from False Self to Deep Connection

Compassion & Conviction: The AND Campaign's Guide to Faithful Civic Engagement
